The updated Elsner AFR-18 high speed rewinder produces consumer size rolls of aluminum foil, food film, and baking paper at the fastest production speed in the industry.
The faster speed offers a substantial cost savings to manufacturers and converters for added profits. The AFR-18 produces 12-inch and 18-inch (305 and 457mm) roll widths
at production speeds up to 48 rolls per minute or 3,000 feet (915 m) per minute. Standard machine core OD sizes range from 1.25 to 1.75 inches (32.0 to 44.5) mm).

The AFR-18’s multi-purpose turret rewinder is servo controlled and easily adjustable while running. Servo drive technology provides precise monitoring, synchronization and operation of the AFR-18. Cut length is infinitely adjustable from 16 feet to 500 feet (5 to 152 m) with a maximum finished roll diameter of 3-inches (76 mm). Operator controls and settings are easily engaged from an ergonomically designed touch screen featuring a bright, user-friendly display. The PLC provides built in settings for various films and foils and automatically controls the production process. A fault history readout and machine diagnostics are also provided via the display. The AFR-18’s automatic tension control closely monitors the product and interfaces with the variable speed belt-driven unwind to maintain proper web tension.

A product delivery conveyor is standard while various roll closure options are available to meet customer requirements such as a food film tail finder that changes the texture of the product at the end of the roll to make it visible to the end user.
