MAN turbo AG MARC6-C03

Twence has had a biomass powerplant since 2007 called BEC. The BEC converts biomass into green electricity, enough to provide a town like Hengelo with electricity. To achieve the goal of supplying heat from this plant a conversion was finalized January 2018. Due to this
conversion they have been able to produce three times as much renewable energy from virtually the same amount of biomass as before the conversion.
The conversion was made by changing out the steam turbine. The MAN MARC6 condensing steam turbine is unable to have a large amount of low-pressure steam continuously extracted and was therefore replaced. The MARC6 steam turbine has been decommissioned and
preserved since January 2018.
Openings in the roof can be used to remove the generator, gearbox and turbine from the building. The roof can be partially removed, creating a large enough opening for these elements to be lifted through. There is ample space for a crane in between the biomass
powerplant and the waste-to-energy plant, if the steam pipe outside is removed. The turbine hall is equipped with a 16-ton overhead crane which can be used to lift specific parts from the Turbine-Generator set.
